Wedding Speeches Made Easy

Wedding speeches can be quite nerve-wracking for the person that is giving it, especially if they do not like public speaking. By preparing your speech beforehand, you can help to make giving it less stressful and you can make sure that you stay focused on your speech. What are some things that you need to remember about wedding speeches?

Wedding speeches should honor the bride and groom, not embarrass. Giving anecdotes about the bride and groom’s courting is wonderful, but leave out the racy or embarrassing stories. Only G-rated stories should be used, simply because there is a wide variety of people at the wedding, including grandparents and children that may not appreciate the more racy stories.

Keep time in mind. Be sure that you do not go on and on. This is the worst thing that you can do, as it bores the guests and it shows poorly on you. By making sure that your wedding speech is short and to the point, you can help to decrease your stress and the guests will enjoy it much more.

If in doubt, find a ready-made speech. You can find wedding speeches on many different websites and in books. If you are not sure about writing your own speech, then use these resources to express your love and best wishes to the bride and groom.

Write it down. Make sure that you have a copy of your speech with you. Flying by the seat of your pants is not something that you want to do for this occasion. Having the wedding speech prepared and in written form will keep you on track and more comfortable.

Wedding speeches are a wonderful way to express your love and appreciation to the bride and groom. By preparing beforehand and keeping the above tips in mind, you will find that much of the stress is taken away from this wonderful honor.

Taking the Stress Out of Wedding Toasts

One of the responsibilities of some members of the wedding party is wedding toasts. Toasting the bride and groom is an important part of the reception, but it can be a stressful part for the person who is doing the toasting. By considering what you are going to say beforehand, you can help to take some of the stress from the wedding toast, so that you will enjoy your part in the wedding.

Wedding toasts should be respectful. Telling racy stories about the bride and groom may not be appropriate for a wedding toast. By keeping your toast G-rated and meaningful, you will come off much better than telling a raunchy story that embarrasses the happy couple and their family.

Make it short and sweet. Droning on and on is not a good way to do a wedding toast. Keeping your toast short and sweet will take some of the pressure off of you and the guests will appreciate it.

Choose a toast. The number of different toasts that are available in books and on websites should allow you to choose one that fits your relationship with the couple and the meaning that you want to convey. By taking one that is already written and personalizing it to you and your needs, you can create a toast that will be appreciated.

Wedding toasts are a way to wish the bride and groom happiness and joy in their marriage. By finding the right wedding toast, you will be expressing your love to them and hopes for their lives. What could be better?

Making the Commitment: Wedding Vows

The wedding vows that you and your significant other say to each other should express your love and commitment. By choosing them carefully beforehand or making your own wedding vows, you can ensure that these vows mean something to both of you to make your day extra special and meaningful. From traditional to contemporary to personal, you will find that the wedding vows can be one of the most important and meaningful parts of the entire wedding ceremony.

Most people do not put much thought into wedding vows, simply because they think that the traditional ones have to be used. It is entirely up to you whether you use the traditional vows or not. You can choose to use the traditional vows as they are or with minor changes to match the feelings and commitment of the two of you. Read through the vows to see what parts you like and don’t like. They could be an excellent base for creating your own vows or you may like them as is.

Contemporary wedding vows are becoming more and more popular these days. Making them more up to date can help to make your wedding vows more personalized and special to you and your significant other. Contemporary vows are normally used in more secular weddings, rather than religious ones, but they can also be used in your church wedding if your officiant will allow it. Be sure to check with him or her to see if you can deviate from the traditional wedding vows.

Writing your own wedding vows is a very meaningful and special thing to do. Adding special memories, jokes, and moments from your life is a great way to add personalization to your wedding. Describing your love and commitment to your significant other will be something that they and you will never forget.

Wedding vows are an expression of love and commitment to your significant other, so choose them carefully. Whether you choose traditional, contemporary, or personalized wedding vows, be sure that it expresses your feelings. This will go a long way to making your day into that meaningful and beautiful day that you have always dreamed of.

Personalize Your Day With Wedding Songs

Wedding songs make up a big component of the wedding planning process. These songs help to add personality and uniqueness to your wedding celebration. By choosing wedding songs that mean something personal to you and your soon-to-be husband or wife, you will make the wedding more personalized and meaningful.

The good news is that you do not have to go with traditional wedding songs anymore. The wide variety and availability of music these days have made choosing wedding songs easy and a bit overwhelming, but by allowing your own personal preferences to lead you, you will find the right wedding songs for your special day.

From country to rap to jazz to rock to classical, you can find songs that fit the wedding moment and your own personalities. Choices range from fun, whimsical songs to love ballads and more to allow you to make your wedding moments into what you imagine and want. Don’t be afraid to use a song that you love, because it is not a “typical” wedding song. Always remember that it is your day first and foremost.

Wedding songs can be played before the ceremony, during the ceremony, and on your way up the aisle. The best moment of a dear friend’s wedding was when she and her new husband were walking up the aisle after they were married to Marvin Gaye’s, “Let’s Get It On.” Other moments that music can be used include for the special dances (first, mother/son, and father/daughter), background music during the reception, and the last dance of the night.

Wedding songs are a great way to make your wedding day unique. From adding show tunes to your “special” song, you will find that music is a way to add personality to your day.

Wedding Toasts & Speeches

It is wedding etiquette that certain members of the wedding party give speeches, followed by wedding toasts, which is raising a glass to drink to someone or something. If there is a Master of Ceremonies, it will be their task to call upon who should speak, this will normally be done in the following order:-

Wedding Speech for Father of the Bride

The Brides father should be called upon by the Master of Ceremonies (Toastmaster), he would normally welcome the grooms parents, other relatives and friends before making his speech. Speeches are normally prepared beforehand, and contain some humorous references to his son growing up, and also include some anecdotes also of a humorous nature. This all helps towards a relaxed and enjoyable reception.

Wedding speech for the Best Man

The best mans speech should be light hearted and should be fun. The best man is usually chosen for various reasons, including a long term friend, brother etc. but the interest and humor he can bring during his speech can be the high spot of the reception, so grooms often take this into account.

Wedding speech for the Bridegroom

The grooms speech should include welcoming everybody to the reception and thanking those who have put themselves out to be there. You should give thanks to the following.
Brides parents for raising such a nice daughter.
Those who have helped with the reception and made it so special.
You should then compliment the bride, and propose a toast to the bridesmaids. It is usual for a gift to be given to the bridesmaids as a way of thanks.

Wedding speech for the Bride

In the past it was not normally expected that the bride would give a speech, but nowadays the majority of brides like to do so. In this case it should take the form of thanking those that have come to your wedding and mention those that would have liked to but were unable due to illness etc. Often a story is told of how the bride met her new husband, and often these stories can be amusing. There may also be some special words that the bride would like to say.
